Meal Plans

Meal Plans are designed to provide access to all-you-care-to-eat meals in The Commons Cafeteria located in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC). The Meal Plan you choose will provide a predetermined number of meals each week during meal period hours on Meal Plan days in The Commons. With key pieces of information, you will be able to get the greatest value out of your Meal Plan.

  • You must present your HawkCard to the cashier to use your Meal Plan or Bonus Points.
  • Keep track of how many meals you have available at all times and budget wisely.
  • Know how many Bonus Points you have available and where/how you can use them.
  • While dining in The Commons, mix and match items from different stations to create the
    'perfect plate' for your taste.
  • Meal Swipes can only be used during Meal Hours in The Commons.
  • Meal Exchanges can be used during that location's hours.
  • A Supervisor or Manager is always on duty and willing to help if you need assistance.
  • Hawk 175 and Hawk 50 are the only Meal Plans that allow you to use a meal swipe to bring in a guest.
  • To see how many meals you have left or how many Bonus Points are remaining on your card, visit get.cbord.com/iit.

Students living in MSV or SSV are required to participate in a traditional Meal Plan (Hawk 21, 19, 14, and 175).  Graduate students in MSV Graduate Hall and students living on campus with a kitchen in-unit must have the Hawk 50 plan.  For more information visit housing.iit.edu.

Meal Plan contracts are administered by the Office of Residence and Greek Life.

Meal Plan Changes

Meal Plan changes will only be honored during the first two weeks of the Fall and Spring semesters. Please visit the Office of Residence and Greek Life in McCormick Student Village (MSV) to change your meal plan.

All standard Meal Plans can be purchased by Commuters, Faculty and Staff. Please contact housing@iit.edu if you have any questions regarding Meal Plans.

Bonus Points

Bonus Points are included with all meal plans.

Bonus Points are spent like dollars at the following locations: Center Court, Pritzker Club, Global Grounds, Talon's, The Bog, and 10west. One Bonus Point equals one dollar. Bonus Points give you flexibility and convenient access to meals or snacks during all hours of operation, whereas Meal Plan meals must be used during designated meal periods (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) in The Commons. Bonus Points may be only used at IIT Dining Services outlets. Meals and Bonus Points are not transferable and can only be used by the owner of the Meal Plan/HawkCard.

Students can purchase additional Bonus Points.  Please see the cashier in The Commons for the current offer.

Bonus Points offered with meal plans roll over from Fall to Spring semester but expire at the end of the Spring semester. Summer Meal Plan Bonus Points expire weekly.

To see how many meals you have left or your Bonus Point balance visit get.cbord.com/iit.

TechCash

TechCash can be also be used to purchase food from any dining location on campus. TechCash can be added to your HawkCard through the ACaPS Office (Access, Card, and Parking Services). There's no need for students to carry cash when their HawkCard provides meals via their Meal Plan and spending money via TechCash. TechCash does not require a meal plan. Commuters are strongly advised to add TechCash to their HawkCard. If you loose your wallet, you do not loose your TechCash. Simply replace your HawkCard and all remaining TechCash will be on your new card and ready to spend on campus. TechCash is also required for doing laundry on campus and can be used at the campus bookstore. Visit http://techcash.iit.edu/ for more information.
